Volvo CE Launches Electric Wheel Loader Facility

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has inaugurated new facilities at its Arvika plant in Sweden to support the production of electric wheel loaders, marking another significant step in its global sustainability strategy. The newly constructed after-flow facility, which was completed within a year following a SEK 65 million ($6.3 million) investment, frees up space within the factory for the assembly of electric models. Volvo CE say this development highlights their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing toward its goal of achieving 35% electric machine sales by 2030.

The inauguration, attended by Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, featured a tour of the site and a demonstration of the Volvo L110 wheel loader. This event highlighted the company’s progress in reducing its climate footprint, with the Arvika site already having cut CO2 emissions by 350 tons. The facility forms part of a broader strategy aimed at transforming Volvo CE's operations globally.

“This new facility is an inspiration for a future built on sustainable solutions. We are proud to be at the forefront of industry change with large-scale investments, not just here in Arvika but around the globe, that support a transformation towards electrification. Together, we are moving closer towards fossil-free machines.” said Melker Jernberg, Head of Volvo CE.
