BHP, Caterpillar, and Finning To Replace Haul Truck Fleet

The companies have announced that over the next 10 years  they will work to replace one of the largest fleets in the industry, at the Escondida mine located in the Antofagasta Region of northern Chile, which currently comprises of over 160 haul trucks.

The first trucks from Caterpillar are expected to arrive at the mine in the second half of 2023. Amongst them will be the Caterpillar 798 AC electric drive trucks which feature technology that delivers improvements in material-moving capacity, efficiency, reliability, and safety and can have a positive impact in key initiatives such as decarbonization, diversity and inclusion, autonomous technologies, and the development of local capabilities.
