Laser Diode Measures Reflective Liquids

Hawk Measurement introduced the OptioLaser S300 for measuring highly reflective, clear, or even turbulent liquids. Due to its narrow beam divergence, it can be used to measure through grates and narrow passages, and even next to fl at walls. The OptioLaser S300 uses an infrared, low-gain laser diode, with a light energy of 905 nanometers, that travels to the surface of any liquid and is reflected back. This time-off-light is then calculated into a distance. It easily measures difficult liquids such as slurries, oils, agitated liquids, even clear water; operates without the need of any calibration; is unaffected by background noise and vapor pressure; and handles low-dielectric substances and acoustically absorbing materials.
