Murray & Roberts Achieves 20 Years Injury-Free at Northam Plant

Murray & Roberts Cementation has reached a significant safety milestone at its grout injection plant between Northam and Thabazimbi in South Africa's Limpopo province, completing two decades without a lost time injury. The 36-member team at the plant manages the logistics of mixing and injecting grout into underground workings to prevent inundation. The plant's long-standing safety record is attributed to the experience and dedication of the staff, many of whom have been with the operation for over 20 years.

Safety practices at the plant focus on personal responsibility and the ongoing identification and mitigation of risks. The team frequently handles high-pressure grout injections and works to maintain operational continuity while adhering to safety standards. Training at the Murray & Roberts Training Academy supports these safety efforts.

"Achieving 20 years without an injury is a real testament to the collective effort of our team, applying our corporate strategies and taking personal accountability for everything that happens on site." said Project Manager Andre van Buuren.
