Sandvik and Perenti Collaborate on Diesel-Electric Mining Equipment

Sandvik and Perenti have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at MINExpo INTERNATIONAL® 2024 to jointly develop diesel-electric equipment for underground mining. The partnership aims to enhance underground mining operations by optimizing Sandvik’s diesel-electric loaders and trucks, with Barminco, Perenti’s underground mining business, playing a key role in testing and refining the technology.

The collaboration will focus on integrating feedback from Barminco’s operations to further improve machine design and performance. This effort aligns with Sandvik’s commitment to expanding its diesel-electric range alongside its battery-electric offerings, following demonstrations of the technology in 2022.
