Immersive Technologies Supports U.S. Mine’s Autonomous Transition

Immersive Technologies has supplied simulator and digital learning systems to the first major U.S. mine transitioning to an autonomous haulage system (AHS). This marks the 32nd autonomous site globally to adopt Immersive Technologies’ training solutions, designed to prepare operators and other personnel for the complexities of autonomous environments. The package, tailored to the mine’s specific requirements, includes training for Caterpillar autonomous trucks, P&H 4100 shovels, Caterpillar D11T dozers and light vehicles equipped with Cat® MineStar™ Command for Hauling systems, alongside onsite support for implementation.

With the introduction of AHS, roles for operators of loading and auxiliary equipment have become more demanding, requiring effective change management and targeted training programs. Immersive Technologies’ solutions aim to reduce time to achieve "permit to work" certifications, addressing an industry-wide challenge in adapting to autonomous operations. Their systems integrate simulation, human performance analytics and blended learning to enhance safety, productivity and workforce readiness during the transition.
